Assurd is a musical project which since 1991 has been putting on folk music performances in the streets and on stages all over the world. Cristina Vetrone (voice, "diatonic button accordion") and Lorella Monti ( voice, frame drums) are two of the founding members . They realized a wide and varied repertoire in close contact with traditional music singers and also studying important texts in the most important archives. Over the years Cristina Vetrone wrote new original compositions which gave a sense of continuity and evolution to tradition. The band will be performing as a new group ; two young musicians joined Cristina and Lorella : Chiara Carnevale and , for the first time in a stubbornly and proudly feminine group a male presence, Fulvio Di Nocera who is a string bass player. These musicians breathe new life into the group allowing it to be timeless on the strength both of long history as well as the many collaborations which characterized an almost thirty-year period of artistic production. Brief History - 1999 to 2012 - it was a quartet (Monti - Pagliara - Prestia - Vetrone) - 2012 - 2018 - becomes a trio - from 2018 - Monti and Vetrone carry on the project in duo, (the collaboration with Pagliara and Prestia continues for the choreography by Mauro Bigonzetti: “Cantata” and “Alice”). - from 2019 the group has been reborn in a new guise breathing freshness and modernity with the addition of Chiara Carnevale, and Fulvio Di Nocera
