London-based DJ and producer Darama has had quite an introduction to the underground electronic music scene, with his unique blend of South Asian percussion and UK bass-heavy sounds gaining the attention of DJs and dancefloors across the country. After releasing a slew of club-ready edits, his position as one of the UK’s most exciting new producers was firmly cemented when a clip of his track played at the Daytimers Boiler Room event went viral. Born to Punjabi parents, Darama’s heritage and influences can be heard throughout his music – where garage, grime, and UK funky meet frenetic South Asian rhythms to create an instantly recognisable sound. Many of his unreleased, highly sought-after dubs have become staples across Rinse, the BBC, and Reprezent, and his role as a core member of the Daytimers collective has seen him come to the fore as one of the emerging talents in the burgeoning British Asian underground scene.
