Daddy Longstem is a producer/rapper from Johannesburg. Majority of his music is self produced and curated, giving it a distinct and unique feel. Daddy Longstem is an audio engineer by qualification and studied Audio Post Production at The Academy of Sound Engineering as part of his efforts to better understand the sonics he is creating. He has been described by News 24 writer Phumlami S Langa as having 'an edgy approach mixed with an at-times wavy delivery that doesn't get cheesy.' He has performed at some of South Africa’s finest hip hop and cultural events whilst maintaining a strong presence in South Africa’s Underground Hip Hop Scene. His music has been featured on multiple international and local publications including New York based magazine The Fader alongside local legends Okamlumkoolkat and Cassper Nyovest amongst others He has appeared on anchor hip hop publications such as Hype Magazine, Slikour On Life, Kool Out, iSpeak Hip Hop as well as French publication Djolo.net. He has appeared on national radio station Metro FM and was YFM’s cypher champion on the popular hip hop show #TheHipHopFloor Daddy Longstem and DJ, producer and radio personality Dj Zan D have come together to deliver a 9 track LP titled Black Privilege. This collaborative project is soon to be followed by a much anticipated debut studio album.
