Juno Award winning drummer Michel Lambert, although recognized mostly for his colorful and innovative approach to the instrument, has quite a strong background in classical and jazz composition. Many of his jazz comp ositions have been recorded for broadcast by CBC Radio in Canada. In 1992, Lambert's composition "Extraits du Journal des Episodes" received a premiere performance at the New Music Festival in Winnipeg by the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. As a drummer, Lambert has recorded and performed with notable Canadian jazz artists like Dave Young, Don Thompson, Sonny Greenwich, Herbie Spanier, Ed Bickert, and Reg Schwager. Since 1982, different projects brought Lambert over to Europe, across Canada, the United States, and Asia. Some of these projects led to performances with Marcus Belgrave, Pat LaBarbera, Julian Priester, Mike Nock, Peter Appleyard, Ted Curson, Charlie Haden, John Zorn, John Tchicai, David Torn, and Mick Karn, amongst others. ~ Dan Cross, Rovi
