Pedro Lavirgen, (1930-2023), was one of the most important tenors of his generation. He made his debut in 1959 with "Marina" in Zaragoza, Spain. After this success he started to sing opera roles with "Aida" having his second debut at the "Bellas Artes" in Mexico City in 1964. After this his carear jumped and he was booked for the most important opera seasons and theatres like Staatsoper, (Vienna) , Metropolitan, (New York), La Scala, Covent Garden, he is the only tenor to have sung for 19 consecutive seasons at Liceo in Barcelona. He received many awards including Jussi Björling in 1977. Retired in 1993 he was appointed profesor at Madrid´s Royal Conservatoire of Music.
