Biography

Paco Osuna's blend of minimal techno and tech-house is funky and crowd-minded as well as sonically detailed and adventurous. The Barcelona-born DJ and producer earned recognition as a DJ at the famous Ibizan club Amnesia at the beginning of the 2000s, and he's since played at numerous international clubs and festivals. After releasing over a dozen records of his own productions, many on his own Shake/Mindshake Records, Osuna debuted on Plus 8 with the EP Crazy in 2007. Several other releases on the label preceded 2014's Long Play, issued by another Richie Hawtin-helmed imprint, Minus. Continuing to hold residencies in Ibiza and Miami, he's kept Mindshake active, issuing EPs like his own Groove Bass (2022) and work by others. Francisco Osuna first began DJ'ing in Valencia in 1994. Soon after, he released makina and progressive house records under pseudonyms. Martin Ferrer asked him to join the team of resident DJs at Amnesia in 1999. It was Osuna's first time visiting Ibiza, and it vastly changed his approaches to mixing as well as his professional pursuits. He soon released several Amnesia Ibiza mix CDs, and became more prolific as a recording artist. As simply Osuna, he released a handful of house records during the early 2000s, including tracks such as "I Can Feel My Blood Pumpin'" and "Me Vuelve Loca" which appeared on numerous compilations. In 2002, he formed Shake Records and started releasing techno records as Paco Osuna. He changed the name of his label to Mindshake Records in 2005. Its first release was his own "Mindacid," followed by "Move" in 2006, the year he founded Barcelona venue Club4. He signed to Plus 8 Records and released Crazy in 2007, followed by Orbeat (2008) and Lemon Juice (2009). Four, led by the Arthur Russell-sampling "Atopisimo," appeared in 2011, followed by two Amigos EPs, which featured collaborations with producers like Joseph Capriati, Alexi Delano, and Uner. Osuna became a resident at Hawtin's ENTER parties, and his debut album, Long Play, appeared on Minus in 2014. Osuna joined Marco Carola's Music On brand in 2016, which led to further residencies and festival bookings. He also helmed Mindshake showcases at events such as the Miami Music Week and ADE Amsterdam. He resumed his release schedule with the 2020 EP Brain Bells, followed by 2022's Groove Bass (with DJ Oliver), both on Mindshake. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
