Biography

For south London based Dabieh, the concept of communion has always been a fundamental praxis. “It’s important to keep exploring parts of ourselves and translating those ideas,” he notes. “There’s a lot of ‘I’, and ‘me’, in creative output these days and less of a community tapestry and a ‘we’.” Community has been wedded to the fabrics of Dabieh’s existence since his youth. Raised in the belly of the former Elephant and Castle based Heygate estate, the “human art project” housed intersectional, multicultural families, who forged understanding with one another that superseded race, nationality, or religious credence. Here, Dabieh “saw the world before ever travelled” — it’s why south London is the best place on earth to him. “It built up a culture of empathy”. Dabieh operates as a multi-hyphenate “I respect thinkers, those who can translate ideas, critical thought, philosophies across multiple mediums.” Amongst his array of specialisms lie musical artistry, entrepreneurialism, executive production, label & festival ownership. One of his formative loves is documentation in written form. Calling Albert Camus’ L'Étranger a seminal piece, Dabieh was particularly empowered by ideas of freedom & existentialism. As co-founder of Cloud X, he is helping to pave forward the landscape of alternative music in the UK, an architect, and facilitator of creative prowess, empowering the next generation to move forward with integrity, exploration and passion in mind. by Nic Tyrell-Smith
