My name is Sayu Beatz, and I’ve always believed in embracing individuality. Coming from the Pacific Northwest, I started out producing for some of Portland’s top hip-hop acts, but over the last three years, I’ve been stepping into the spotlight as a performer myself. SAYU stands for Spirit Appreciate Your Uniqueness, and that’s exactly what I bring into my music and performances. I’m 33, and while some might say this is a young man’s game, I don’t see it that way. I know people my age often start settling down and abandoning their dreams, but I refuse to give in to that mindset. I’ve felt the pull to quit, but deep down, I know that if I stop chasing my dream, I’d be stuck feeling unfulfilled, knowing I settled for less when I’m capable of so much more. If I quit, I die—and that’s something I can’t do. Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to perform in Atlanta, Georgia, and I also dropped a TikTok video featuring an alternate performance of my song “10 out of 10” at Hip Hop Soulsation Academy. That video reached over 20k views and confirmed that people are connecting with what I’m bringing to the table. My goal is to create music that not only makes people move but also connects with them on a deeper level. This journey is just getting started, and I can’t wait to see where it leads next.
