Biography

MacKenzie Turner is a 22-year-old singer-songwriter based in Seattle, WA. Through a mutual friend, she met her producer & collaborator for her debut album, Evngeo, in early Spring of 2021 and asked him to help create and produce the title track of the album, ‘soul gem’. Within a few short months, the rest of the album was written and recorded, and her R&B/Pop crossover album was released that December. MacKenzie’s love for music started early in her toddler years, singing along to every song she heard on TV or the radio, and her passion for R&B started as early as 6 years old when she was introduced to artists such as T-Pain, Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige, Beyoncé, and Akon. Her love of all types of music, especially R&B, rap, jazz, funk, classic rock, and soul, has grown exponentially since. Her main experience as a musician began in elementary school when she joined orchestra as a cellist, and she moved onto singing choral music and jazz in choirs in high school and college. She’s also taken many jazz piano lessons, and has experience playing self-taught instruments such as guitar and electric bass. To showcase the other side of her musical creativity, currently in the works for MacKenzie is a live-jazz album, coming in 2023, with one of the Pacific Northwest’s renowned jazz arrangers/educators, Kirk Marcy. MacKenzie plans to create more and more collaborations, as the inspiration flows, with Evngeo and other rappers/singers/bands in the Seattle area in the coming years.
