Biography

Trevor Alan Gomes is a Memphis-based composer, arranger, and pianist. Inspired by the soundtracks of early 90s video games, especially the work of Koji Kondo and Nobuo Uematsu, he took up composition at age ten, receiving numerous awards for his piano and chamber music compositions from an early age. He went on to an extensive classical training, culminating in a master’s degree in Music Composition from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. His studio works pay homage to the legacy of the legendary composers that first inspired him, starting with Yasunori Mitsuda’s iconic soundtrack for the SNES game Chrono Trigger. Not content to simply replicate the originals with a simple piano adaptation, Trevor follows the model of such brilliant arrangers as Shiro Hamaguchi, arranger of the official Piano Collections albums for Final Fantasy VII through Final Fantasy IX, bringing the tracks to life in a way that is entirely unique to the piano, innovating and adding his own material while still honoring the source. Trevor is also a live performer and a partnered streamer (username 88bitmusic) on the platform Twitch, where he plays his grand piano in a highly dynamic and unique interactive experience, ranging from taking song requests to designing and programming elaborate chat-controlled games.
