Queens, New York native Earnest, started with a passion for poetry. While in his sophomore year in high school, a close friend gifted Earnest a journal & created a personalized mixtape for his birthday, which sparked his creative interest to experiment with Hip-Hop. After creating a viral freestyle series called “Moment of Earnesty,”, where remixes classic and new hip-hop/R&B songs. Earnest dropped his debut project Kato, January 2019, and then followed up with his second project Heartbreak Kid. Earnest showcases his rap prowess with singles like “Gold Chain” and “Hot Sauce,” then shows his wide musical range singing on songs like “October” and “Her.” 2019 is sure to a break out year for Earnest. KATO by EARNEST  The name “KATO” comes from an ancient Eastern African language, which means second of twins. Earnest is my alter ego, who's locked in an internal battle with Stephen, to determine what's his most important goal in life. Earnest desires the lavish lifestyle consisting of beautiful women, expensive clothes, and money, while Stephen seeks a simplistic life as an artist who wants to be loved for his craft. Kato walks the listener through this complex attempt to find the balance between creativity and materialism.
