"I’m the sort of person who can never remember the first time I met my closest friends, but I do remember what it felt like. An instant comfort and warmth that’s like home outside of home. That’s pretty much the feeling I experienced the first time I saw Swarathma live. I don’t remember when or where it was but I do remember a riot of colours in terms of both sight and sound. I remember wanting to dance, and bopping my head. I remember laughing out loud, at their on-stage antics and their on-stage commentary. I remember singing along, because by the third repetition of the chorus, I seem to already know the song I just heard. Swarathma is a feeling I’ve experienced several times over the years and each time, it’s the same. I know of friends who think the costumes and accents (and that famous ghodi) are all a bit gimmicky but the funny thing is I don’t think I’ve met a more guileless band. They’re also an incredibly passionate band, one that’s not afraid of getting political on their songs. They might not name names but the message is clear, they’re calling it out whether it's communalism, corruption or consumerism. To their fans they’ve always been a source of brightness in an increasingly dark world." - Amit Gurbaxani (paraphrased from the article in Raah E Fakira)
