Established in 2019 and based in New York City, Etymology Records is a musical creative collective that focuses its production on instrumental hip hop music. The musicians of Etymology Records all have one thing in common -- they all follow the formula of making timeless music. Etymology Records aims to make music that caters to all generations, from those who prefer futuristic sounds to those who prefer sounds from the past. Our initial efforts have been focused on building a bridge between hip hop and pre-existing genres that serve as inspiration such as jazz, disco, blues, and even classical. From these efforts a unique combination of musical authenticity and style has been formed.
