Biography

Comprising UK Rising High Records’ owner Casper Pound (once the ‘hippie’ in A Homeboy, A Hippie And A Funki Dred), and in the early stages Pete Smith. Pound rejoiced in statements like: ‘I wanna scare people on the dancefloor. I wanna use sounds that are disturbing to the mind and really freak people out when they’re tripping’. He seemed determined to prove his mettle with cuts like debut 12-inch ‘Rainbows In The Sky’ and ‘This House Is Mine’, the latter a Top 75 hit single in September 1991. More notorious was The Hardcore EP, which included the neo-legendary ‘Hardcore U Know The Score’. Follow-ups included ‘Live In Berlin’ (The Hypnotist were celebrated as pop stars in Germany) and ‘Pioneers Of The Universe’. Pound also works as part of Rising High Collective with former Shamen vocalist Plavka, and records under the name New London School Of Electronics and several more. He is also a distant relative of the US poet Ezra Pound.
