PRESS-TEXT Myriam Hidber Dickinson has a growing international fan club, which is hooked on a virtuosic flutist who has taken the time and effort to know her pieces from the inside out: harmony, structure, color, mood, style, ornamentation, agogic, vibrato. . . She has long since moved through the standard repertoire for flute together with piano, guitar, harp, chamber ensemble, and orchestra; and into Baroque music on period instruments, lesser-known works of the Classic and Romantic (especially from countries outside western Europe), contemporary music, jazz improvisation, African percussion with a major emphasis in the last years on the vast universe of Brazilian music and Choro in particular. To this exceptional versatility must be added: a rare understanding of due diligence, the curiosity of a cat and the courage to go anywhere and dive into just about any music on the planet –– and one understands why her performances are more like “happenings”.
