The lineup for new album Hearts Full of Grace features Ant Law, Gary Alesbrook, George Cooper and Jon Clark based in Bristol, UK. While every artist is a product of their listening life, few so actively push to transform those influences into something so vibrantly non-conformist. Comparisons with the world music grooves of Weather Report, sonic sophistication of Radiohead or eclectic voyages of Miles Davis might spring most easily to the minds of the casual listener. The rewards for accepting an implicit invitation to patiently reflect will reveal a far more innovative vision though. As a multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer, Al is both eclectic and transformative. His use of FX pedals and computer manipulation provide an extensive and original tonal palette with which to sculpt his music.
