Berlin-based musician junk-E-cat blends acoustic and electronic elements, seamlessly combining a selection of reed instruments with finger drumming, live looping, and horn arrangements. You’ll find him performing live sets in clubs, or on top of his customised vintage fire truck at festivals, or improvising beats on top of buildings and abandoned sites around the world. Like many other artists, ​junk-E-cat ​was hit hard by the lockdown. Having to cancel all live shows, he chose to self-isolate in his “cave” - the room where the creature was born and where he writes, records and produces all his music. From there, he harnessed new powers, continuously streaming live sets for his online following and writing and producing new music. With the announcement that most of the concerts this summer will be cancelled, ​junk-E-cat set himself on a new mission: Saving live music in his hometown of Berlin by playing guerilla concerts from rooftops for people listening on their balconies and windows. What started in the street where the “cave” is hidden has slowly expanded to more neighborhoods - and the mission is still on.
