Biography

Mikey McCleary is an award-winning composer, songwriter and music composer/producer. From New Zealand but born in India, McCleary has worked extensively in the Indian music industry as well as internationally. He studied orchestration and composition at the Wellington Conservatorium of music (now the The New Zealand School of Music). McCleary began his career producing the hugely successful album Sunoh with singer Lucky Ali. He has worked with an assortment of artists ranging from the Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman to actress/singer Priyanka Chopra. McCleary composed the original music score and songs for Margarita With A Straw (for which he won the award for Best Composer at the 2015 Asian Film Awards). Other notable films that he has composed music for include The Sky Is Pink, Befikre, Shangai, Shaitaan, Waiting, Bombay Velvet, David, Maska and Nautanki Sala. He has also composed the music for the Amazon series Four More Shots Please! Mikey is the composer behind some of the most successful and recognisable tracks for South Asia's biggest advertising campaigns. Mikey also released an album called TV Dinners (Sony Music) comprising of his most popular songs made for brand campaigns. Mikey is also known for his reinterpretations of vintage Hindi film songs, having made 3 albums (Sony Music/Saregama) under the moniker - The Bartender, and had his versions appear in many feature films and advertising campaigns.
