Halston Aka Dillon Newell is a emcee that comes from Syracuse, NY. Growing up on the SouthSide of Syracuse with Jamaican/African- American heritage wasn’t always easy. “Growing up I seen a lot from drug dealing, murder, drug use, prostitution, alcohol abuse you name it.” However, Dillon wasn’t going to stop there after leaving Syracuse and doing a Four year stint in the military. Dillon decided it was now time to put his talents and experience to good use and start up not only his music career but also his own music label, Greenback Records. Dillon grew up listening to Bob Marley, Biggie, Jay-z, Nas, Tupac, Wu Tang, Krs -One, Snoop, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Mobb Deep, The Lox, Sade, Stevie Wonder to Kanye west, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne. “I listened to many artist growing up and learned from them all, I love music it’s impossible for me to create an album and just rap front to back in a straight line, my spirit won’t let me. I’m an artist I want to test my range, my sound, my skills and see what I can always create while still being able to be me.” Dillon has won freestyle competitions hosted by Legends such as Ghostface Killa to opening up for Shy Glizzy, G Herbo, & even Remy Ma. Dillon also witnessed fans doing a #Jumprope challenge on Tik Tok to his Song “Jump Rope” from Dillon’s first album “This ain’t for everybody” available on all streaming sites. “I’m just here to make great music and get my piece for my city, family and team, Greenback don’t fold!”
