Biography

Perturbazione, from Rivoli (Turin), is one of the most established and enduring italian indie bands. Their first single was released in 1996 and their debut album, Waiting to Happen, in 1998. Influenced by guitar pop bands such as The Smiths, R.E.M. and Belle & Sebastian, Perturbazione set out to renovate the panorama of alternative Italian pop music. They started touring intensively and recorded several tracks. Recognition finally came with the release of 2002's In Circolo, when the animated video of its second single, Agosto, became a favourite of MTV Italy. Their 2005 album Canzoni allo specchio broadened the band's fan base and garnered excellent reviews. In 2007 Perturbazione released their first major-label record, Pianissimo Fortissimo, for EMI Capitol. It was followed by Del Nostro Tempo Rubato (2010, Santeria) and Musica X (Mescal, 2013). In 2014 Perturbazione performed L'Unica at celebrated italian Sanremo Festival, winning the Press Reward, strenghtening their reputation with a popular audience which packed their tour. In january 2016 they released their seventh album, Le storie che ci raccontiamo, produced by Tommaso Colliva (Muse, Calibro 35) and recorded in London. The upcoming album will be released in spring 2020. In various interviews the band described its own sound as 'anaemic rock', referring to the emotional impact of both lyrics and music and its constant struggle for a missing element, an achievement, a quest for life and its depiction.
