Biography

Alex Amaro’s ability to translate nostalgic sounds into modern dance floor house has quickly gained the attention of industry figureheads. His unique blend of bass heavy rave and tech-leaning house has been supported the likes of Dr. Fresch, Nostalgix, Dj Z-Trip, Black V-Neck, Lo’99, and more. This year he broke through the noise and landed on Beatport’s Top 50 Tech House chart with his debut single “Rise” and its Top 10 Bass House chart with his Creep EP. “Rise” marks a new era for the San Francisco native after he spent over a decade under a different alias. Marked by the choice of his given first name as a nod to achieving his most authentic form, and the his real middle name “Amaro” as a tribute to his father, who steadfastly supported Alex’s creative endeavors until he passed in 2014. Not only an artist, Amaro has spent nearly 20 years touching all sides of the industry, from journalism to rights management. His written work appears in Insomniac, Magnetic Magazine, and Roland, where he shares his analytical viewpoint on electronic culture. He was also a key figure at Dubset Media, a company that aimed to give DJs and producers the power to legally distribute derivative creative content on streaming platforms.
