Biography

Mano Armada, formed in 2006 by Papá Humbertico with El Discipulo , is produced by their well known independent label, Real 70, in Havana, Cuba. Their sound is classic boombap hip hop produced with Cuban musicality and funk, jazz, blues and bolero samples. Over the years they have built a cult following as urban poets in Latin America because of their motivational lyrics, written to share and relate their own hope and determination to their listeners. They’ve collaborated with musicians from Mozambique, Venezuela, Mexico, USA, Canada, Spain, Angola, Brazil, Sweden, Colombia and Iran and welcome visiting artists to their studio. Since the early 2000’s they have both been active in community work in not only their city of Barrera but also by performing concerts and at festivals throughout Cuba in Havana, Santiago de Cuba, Santa Clara, Camagüey, Holguín and Isla de los Pinos; as well as in educational and penitentiary centers around the island.
