Vancouver-based JUNO Award winning rapper and producer Checkmate initially gained recognition as one of the principal performers on the song “Northern Touch” alongside the Rascalz, Kardinal Offishall, Choclair, and Thrust. Using the success of “Northern Touch” as a springboard for a solo career, Checkmate has released multiple solo and collaborative projects, including “R.A.W.” featuring Eminem cohort Royce Da 5'9" and LA‘s DJ Revolution which resulted in another JUNO nomination. Checkmate is now looking to further his reputation as a premium lyricist by releasing Hustle Game 101, a 9 song project with guests including Jay Worthy, JD Era, and Concise, and all production by long-standing collaborator Vago (Technicians).
