Biography

The homegrown East London rapper came up in an era of pirate radio. Audiences witnessed Tor Cesay rapping alongside the BBC Concert Orchestra, Glastonbury Festival, and at the Olympics winner’s announcement viewed by one billion people.
After the success of debut single 'Strivin', her first full length project “Beatz International”, was released through her own label Pinch of Salt Records and licensed to File Records in Japan (June 13th 2008). It was subsequently released in the UK on January 12th 2009.
Supporters included Zane Lowe, Mary Anne Hobbs, Gilles Peterson and MP Steven Hepburn. "Back On The Endz" , the first single featured on MTV Base’s daytime playlist.
Tor gained major airplay from DJ's on Radio 1, 1Xtra, Kiss and Choice FM with the release of "Beatz in the Capital", mixed by Show 'N' Prove, including 'Black girls', a stunning remix of Bashy's breakthrough track.
Ms Dynamite's 'When I fall in Love', Bugz in the Attic's 'Move Aside', Soundbwoy Ent's remix of top 20 hit "Never Wanna say", don’t even scratch the surface of Tor's previous collaborations.
Super group, 'Mongrel', created by Jon McClure (Reverend and the makers, 2009), released album "Better than Heavy" featuring Tor Cesay.
The all-star line up included Matt Helders (Arctic Monkeys), Drew McConnel (Babyshambles) and UK rapper Lowkey.
"An absolutely masterful MC from the UK, absolutely ruthless…I love this girl” Mary Anne Hobbs - Radio 1
