Born in Trenton, New Jersey, and raised across Calvert County, Maryland, and Columbus, Georgia, Artemis, also known as Arty or Scuro, brings a unique perspective to the rap scene. At just 19 years old, Artemis has been honing his craft for nearly a decade, writing his first original piece at the age of 10 and dropping his debut track at 15. Artemis’s music is a raw, unfiltered reflection of his life experiences. Through a blend of subliminal messages and straightforward lyrics, he tackles heavy topics such as drug abuse, verbal and mental abuse, hardships, and gun violence. His tracks resonate with the struggles he has faced, offering listeners a glimpse into the pain and resilience that have shaped him. Drawing from his diverse background, with a Black father and a White mother, Artemis weaves together influences from his upbringing in different parts of the country to create a sound that’s both contemporary and deeply personal.
