Growing up in Philadelphia breeds a certain type of emcee. Those characteristics are usually lyrical, hungry, and raw. If you couple that with having a DJ for a father, then the music bug is bound to bite you in one way or another. Terrence Wood fka Side Effect cut his teeth as an emcee in the Philly underground scene during the early to mid 2000’s. During this time he rocked various showcases and was the opening act for Hip Hop legends such as Big Daddy Kane, Mystikal, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. This helped him to hone his skills as a live performer and sharpen his writing skills into what they are today. After releasing several independent albums and mixtapes in Philadelphia, Terrence and his wife packed up and moved to Austin, TX in 2011. It was during this time that he realized there were too many groups out there using the name “Side Effect”, so he decided to simply start using his real name Terrence Wood. There in the “Live Music Capital of the World”, he connected with other talented Hip Hop artists and continued releasing projects and singles including his latest album with DJ Illegal from the Snowgoons entitled “Musica De Los Muertos” which gained international acclaim. Flowing over beats that range from hardcore east-coast to soulful boom bap is where Terrence shines best. He prides himself on being a relatable emcee. If you have kids, or work a day job, or are pushing forward to accomplish your goals, then you will be able to relate to the topics that he raps about
