Biography

An avid lover of music his whole life, Benjamin began writing songs upon entering his twenties. He released his lo-fi debut album Shaping Season in 2020, before following it up with the critically-acclaimed sophomore album Shelterheart in 2021. Produced by Asher Peterson, Shelterheart is a tender folk rock record about community and brotherhood made for an increasingly divided Church in the wake of COVID-19. Shelterheart received high praise from Christian music publications including being named album of the year by critics at Jesus Freak Hideout.com. His third record, Home Enough for Now, was a somber meditation on grief in the days following the loss of his mother, and was included on The Gospel Coalition's "Best Christian Music of 2023" list. Produced by his best friend Allen Odell, this album was primarily tracked on an iPhone to create a raw, understated sound that pulls back the veil on real-time Christian suffering. His fourth record, The Rain Falls Sideways, once again pairs Benjamin with Shelterheart producer Asher Peterson and is set for release on July 5th. It's a grander statement that trades painful, lo-fi ruminations for grander guitars, more diverse arrangements, and big, uplifting melodies. If Shelterheart looked to the promises of the future, and Home Enough for Now ruminated on grief in the present, The Rain Falls Sideways reflects on God's faithfulness in the past.
