Even if she wasn’t equipped with an incredible voice and stage presence, 20-year-old Leonora would probably have become an international star regardless. Within the world of figure skating, she is a triple Danish Championship title holder, and she has participated in both the Junior World Championship and Nordic Championship. At the age of 15, however, she decided to focus on music, training her voice, playing guitar and writing her own songs. Her efforts have paid off, and in May, she will represent Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest after coming in first in the national competition in February. Her winning song, “Love Is Forever”, is a unique song featuring four different languages – English, French, Danish and German – and its universal message perfectly encapsulates what the Eurovision Song Contest is all about: Inclusion, diversity and the unifying power of music. Leonora’s performance is sweet and simple, yet captivating, as it prominently features a giant chair, which symbolizes the message of the song: Raising ourselves above our differences and understanding that love is, indeed, forever – it is what ties us together.
