Masta Recka's debuted album "#1" was released under the Zyfex label and distributed by Tuff Gong International. Songs from #1, such as "Ghetto John Crow," shines a different perspective on crimes plaguing the Ghetto. "Instead of preaching the same thing every day, I focused on the art of storytelling," said Recka. "Tales of parents' pain, jealousy, and corruption." The 6 feet 2 inches artist is for the ladies, and most of his songs promote good times, as in Anna Bella 2, Do Yuh Thing, Do That to me, Rewine, Touch Street, Mi No Sober, Wake Up, and others. Born Rupert J. Green, Masta Recka was raised by his mother while living in St. Ann, Jamaica. After passing his Common Entrance Exam, he attended Ferncourt High School. He later transferred to Kingston College (H.S), securing 7 points for K.C. during the 95 Boy's Champs. Masta Recka migrated from Jamaica to live with his grandmother in the Bronx, New York. He attended SUNY Old Westbury College, earning a B.S. in Chemistry in 2000. Recka's lyrical scheme is compared to that of dancehall lyricist Vybz Kartel. Masta Recka is one of the few dancehall artists who is also an author and screenwriter (R.J. Green), his book "Tanny Anderson – Barefoot, Prickles & Thorns peaked at #6 on amazon in 2010. With a diverse background in Theater, Science and an MBA in International Business from Florida Atlantic University, Masta Recka is working on his current film, "Cannibal Butcher," set in Baltimore.
