Scarlatti: Three Famous Piano Sonatas

Biography

Wendy Waterman was born in Leeds, England into a famous family of musicians. She has appeared on the concert platform since she was a small girl and played as a soloist at the age of ten in the Royal Festival Hall, London, the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam and the Palais des Beaux-Arts, Brussels. After having received her first piano lessons from her mother, Rene Waterman, she continued her training with Dame Fanny Waterman, followed by Rosalyn Tureck. She obtained her diploma from the Royal College of Music, London and moved to Switzerland, where she raised a family and initially focussed her career on teaching. Further studies at the Zurich Conservatoire with Irwin Gage and work as an accompanist for master classes and private lessons of Elisabeth Schwarzkopf introduced her to the world of lieder and vocal repertoire. Since then Wendy has established herself essentially as a lied accompanist and chamber musician. Orchestral projects include challenging piano parts by Prokofiev and de Falla with the Orchestra of Zurich Opera; recordings were produced by Swiss Radio DRS2 and Radio Suisse Romande, amongst others. Cecilia Bartoli invited Wendy as an accompanist and coach and to help her as a source analyst for several CD projects with previously unpublished baroque music. Besides her concert work Wendy Waterman gives private piano lessons and coaches chamber musicians and accompanists on all professional levels.
