David Williams, the songwriter, producer, and musician known under the moniker of DavidMichaelMusiq, incorporates the rich sounds of jazz, R&B, soul and funk to create a blend that lyrically could closely be defined as contemporary gospel. It all started in the small town of Alexandria, Louisiana, where David was born and raised. Being the son of a pastor and jazz musician, the fusing of the genres to create his unique sound came naturally. David got his start to music while playing piano for his church. From there, he was able to grow and nourish his sound which has led to the near release of his debut album. Having his “funk-filled”, jazzy, modish approach to the Gospel by utilizing soulful vocals and the blues, DavidMichaelMusiq has attracted the likes of Doobie Powell and Kirk Whalum for his debut project.
