Biography

Johnny Mac and the Faithful are a whirlwind of Celtic-Folk and Rock’n’Roll and have been likened to bands such as The Pogues, The Waterboys, Hothouse Flowers and even Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band. They were hand-picked in 2019 by Rockstar legend Sir Rod Stewart to support him on his Summer Stadium tour in UK and Ireland …and they went down so well that he then invited them back for his Winter Arena tour! The band, a mega-talented bunch of Scottish musicians in their own right, were drafted in by frontman Johnny Mac aka John McLaughlin especially for the Rod Stewart tour in 2019. They include Stevie Morrison (Drums), Tam McKinley (Bass), Joe Gallacher (Lead Guitar), Danny Rooney (Guitar), Roo Geddes (Fiddle), Terry Dourish (Accordian) & Calum McGregor (Keys & Accoridan). Together they revel in wearing their influences on their sleeves. The heartbeat their music is an uplifting mix of Celtic-Folk played with a fearsome Rock’n’roll spirit, the cornerstone of the band’s sound that they have built a reputation for in their live performances - their typical setlist covers folk classics Galway Girl, Irish Rover and Pay Me My Money Down as well as a string of original songs written by McLaughlin (an award-winning songwriter who has penned and produced hits for artists such as Westlife, Busted, Echo & The Bunnymen, Shane MacGowan and Sandi Thom).
