In 2013 Kid Kold made a very important decision, understanding the career path he wanted to take and the competitiveness of the city Toronto where he lived, with the help of his manager they decided to put the album creation process on hold and focus on a prelude project. That’s when “The Black Gang EP” was first thought into existence. Kid Kold and his manager picked up all their possessions, left their families and moved to Alberta, Canada to work in the oilfield. Being absolutely dedicated to the project the two stayed out there for 3 years, continued the learning process through books, music conferences and workshops and of course working with some of the greats. What was most important is that they were able to create a project they cared about, the way they wanted to make it. Kid Kold has now moved back to Toronto in order to prepare for the release of “The Black Gang EP”, which features verses from an elite cast such as, Freeway, Beanie Sigel, Killah Priest, Styles P, Sheek Louch & Ghostface Killah. Guest appearances like this really speak directly to who Kid Kold is, aside from these being his influences they reflect the classic Hip-Hop sound that he embodies. With production from DJ Mercilless, who resembles DJ Premiere, Just Blaze, Pete Rock, Kanye West, Alchemist & Statik Selektah, these two breathe life back into the niche and almost forgotten sound that once ruled Hip-Hop.
