My name is U-SIF. I’m a creative director, singer, songwriter, actor, and filmmaker. I make alternative dark pop with themes such as religion, heartbreak, redemption, and self-exploration. I am heavily inspired by experimental hip-hop, alternative RNB, and 80’s pop. I am a Toronto-based artist. My background is Egyptian. Born in Florida, my family moved to Scotland, and we lived there for 6 years. Later we moved to Egypt for a year before the Arab Spring revolution happened. This event led my family to move to UAE to live with my grandparents. 8 years later, we moved to Ottawa, Canada in 2019 and lived there for 3 years. In 2022, I moved to downtown Toronto. I started writing spoken word poetry in middle school, which further developed into songs after incorporating instrumentation. I continued making demos until I finally put out my first song in March of 2020. I write my songs by being as honest as possible about how I feel in the moment, while structuring it through rhyme, imagery, metaphors, and various references to Greek mythology. Conveying emotion through my lyrics embedded with a soundtrack to the picture I’m painting is what I love about making music. Seeing how my perspective affects other people and causes them to think differently about their lives is what drives me to create. Listening to my music feels like looking into a mirror and seeing the most vulnerable version of yourself conveying your true emotions.
