Dimitris Margiolas was born in Naxos in a family of great musicians, but he grew up in Athens where as a high school student he was already playing bouzouki and lute in traditional and island music bands, while he started attending classes of musical theory at the National Conservatoire of Athens with many remarkable. At the same time, he learns the art of tzouras and mandolin, without ever separating from his great love, the bouzouki. The Greek record industry was soon to discover his great talent and in 1971 his participation in Dimos Moutsis’ "Agios Fevrouarios" gave him his first great chance. His name starts appearing in large productions, since his fellow musicians and artists begin to recognize him as a master of bouzouki. There are countless recordings and artistic collaborations with important Greek composers such as Mikis Theodorakis, Yannis Spanos, Stavros Xarhakos, C. Leontis, Apostolos Kaldaras, Linos Kokkotos, Giorgos Chatzinasios, Marios Tokas, Antonis Vardis, Takis Soukas, V. Dimitriou, Stamatis Kraounakis, S. Sempis, Michalis Koumbios, Michalis Nikoloudis and Socrates Malamas. He has accompanied great Greek singers, such as S. Kazantzidis, S. Dionysiou, S. Bellou, C. Alexiou, Marinella, V. Moscholiou, R. Sakellariou, M. Mitsias, G. Dalaras, M. Lidakis, E. Vitali, D. Giannakopoulou, A. Vissi, G. Margaritis, T. Tsanaklidou, D. Galani, K. Makedonas, D. Mitropanos, E. Tsaligopoulou, E. Arvanitaki, Glykeria, E. Dimou, D. Basis, Al. Ioannidis and many others.
