Biography

Epic is a rapper from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan now residing in Edmonton, Alberta. He and his first collaborator Soso participated in Clothes Horse Records (1998-2007). His mid 1990s friendship with members of the Winnipeg collective Peanuts and Corn heavily influenced his early years. His left field hit 8:30 In Newfoundland became a prairie rap cult classic and eventually took him around the world. During a 5 year period he was the most listened to rapper on the Canadian prairies, underground or mainstream. The high point came when he performed Thought Process three times in Minneapolis at the Seventh Street Entry (2006). His acts of kindness and giving back to the thriving prairie Canada scene at that time are legendary. He took a young Cadence Weapon to his first out of town show. He also set up a young Factor Chandelier with a sampler to start making beats. This period resulted in 8:30 in Newfoundland (2001), Heater in My Truck (2003), Local Only (2004) and Epic and Nomad (2006). After failing to take the next step he dropped the underground favorite album Aging Is What Friends Do Together (2008) on Hand Solo records and subsequently disappeared into obscurity. He has shared friendships and collaboration with Juno award winning artist and world dj champion DJ Brace, in addition to Nolto and Noah23 . In 2023 Epic humbly started over again with a small group of supporters still intact.
