Biography

When the rhythm section of Amadou and Mariam overturns the table to take control of a group that looks like a collective, it gives Climax Orchestra! With the famous Malian couple, the two musicians have multiplied world tours and musical exchanges. Adventures that led them to play alongside renowned artists such as Blur and Gorillaz singer Damon Albarn, on the occasion of his Africa Express project, but also Fatoumata Diawara, Baba Maal, Paul McCartney, Eliades Ochoa, Tony Allen and many others. It was during a tour in Colombia that Yvo and Yao discovered that their latest respective compositions sailed on the same rhythmic current: Afro-beat! Back in Paris, surrounded by Manu Faivre, trumpeter arranger, and Mo-dj the electronic marabout, decide to crystallize their vision of an urban afro-beat, tinged with their various musical influences ranging from reggae to funk via electro: Climax Orchestra was born. In May 2020, they released their first single Matabo, a title in memory of Tony Allen, the inspirational figure of the group, who bequeathed to them the rhythms on demand they weave their threads. This was followed in June by the single Tolon, and N'te Tan Da in November, a track that captures the essence and energy of their urban afro-beat. This last single will not fail to be identified by the French duo Synapson who will release a catchy electro-funk remix.
