Raised in Manchester with Pakistani roots, Jamaal makes ambitious hip-hop that fuses ultra-modern production with intelligent wordplay and tender vocal melodies. Unafraid to confront both personal introspection and wider societal issues, Jamaal’s music displays courage and vulnerability, representing a brave individual voice that allows the listener to view the world through his unique lens. Producing his own tracks since the age of 10, music has been a lifelong passion for Jamaal, taking influence from iconic men of colour throughout musical history including Prince, Frank Ocean, Marvin Gaye and Kendrick Lamar. Inspired by the freedom of expression and individuality shown by these legendary artists, Jamaal combines these influences with other diverse discoveries that include Tame Impala, The Weeknd and Whitney Houston. Having steadily built a reputation on the live scene through a string of energetic performances across the UK including big shows at the Manchester and Birmingham Pride events, Jamaal released his long-awaited debut album ‘Audio Honey’ in December 2020. Produced, engineered and mixed by Jamaal himself, the album was mastered by Eve Studios’ Joel Patchett (King Krule, The Orielles, Billy Ocean and Denzel Curry).
