Biography

From Makasi’s beginnings in underground clubs in Antwerp and Amsterdam, to AfrikaBurn, Tomorowland, Tomorrowworld, Ultra, Miami Music Week, Sunburn, Balaton Sound, and beyond, the Belgian DJ/producer aka Yannick Beloy has shared the stage with heroes like Diplo, N.e.r.d, 50 Cent, Will.i.am, and many more. Behind the decks he cuts an energetic figure, a versatile DJ (he had his first set of turntables aged 8 years old) Makasi is at home playing big room sets as he is with a driving global house sound influenced by Black Coffee, Nitefreak, Francis Mercier, Caiiro, Moblack and co. Inspired by the music of West African and Latin artists played at home during his childhood, Makasi has spent the last year creating a new body of work. Previous single Back Home with Asher Swissa kicked off a multi-single deal with NewState Music and this along with Rapture join a discography that includes Dumski, King Of Kings, Dance With Me (Smash The House), and Lucky. Makasi recently returned from his first AfrikaBurn, in the past few weeks he’s played Illuzion, finishes the starting run of his biggest Asian club residency to date at Red Theater, debuts at Ultra Korea, hits MOP in Macau, and makes an eagerly awaited trip to Cambodia. In July he heads to Europe for shows including Tomorrowland. With more music ready and a new worldwide syndicated radio show, Supah Sessions, the next stage of Makasi’s career is set for lift off.
