OK... Kammahav... A musical project combining Christian Gustafsson’s musical soundscapes with the words and vocals of Tony Jenkins... Christian has played and recorded in many Swedish bands including Victorian Tin, who released a cassette on Everlasting Records. Tony has contributed vocals to a few Cambridge based bands: The Sound of Pop Art, Lizard Brain and his current band The New Fools. But it was through his short time running a record label in the 80’s/90’s, Everlasting Records with Nick Clarke of Rhythm Mail Order, that he first encountered Christian. “We had advertised for bands to record for our new label and had received a number of tapes. A couple were OK but most were poor. Then we received a package from Sweden, a white-bodied cassette that had Scapegoat Palace scrawled across in felt tip. The first track sounded great, I still remember the pleasure I had hearing it for the first time. I remember thinking, this could just be lucky, best track first but the second track was also really good. It couldn’t last could it? The third track was an 8-minute epic called Silvery Mouths and it was outstanding! If we’d had the funds we would have put out a single there and then, the best we could do was release a (near legendary) cassette by the band, now called Victorian Tin.” At the end of 2018 the duo decided to collaborate on some new tunes under the name Kammahav!
