Born in 1992 in the city of Porto (Portugal), José Miguel Silva is DJ and producer Bassment. In 2009 he started to buy his first vinyls, months before having turntables. Short after, he makes his debut with local promoters and in 2010 is referenced as an upcoming DJ talent by 105 Agency. Bassment played supporting act for Amoss, Was A Be, dBridge, Dub Phizix, QZB, Bredren , Makoto, Blu Mar Ten, Etherwood, Dave Owen and Nu:Tone. Experience behind the decks led to a natural transition and the start of his own productions, progressively transforming his basement into a true production studio. 

In 2013 he started to promote his first projects and wins the first ever Sample Genie (Bristol) competition. Since then, he has collaborated with Bluejay The MC, Humanature, Psychic Pressure, Dub Signalz and Zezalien. In 2013, Bassment co-founded Counterpoint Recordings and started releasing music with worldwide record labels, signing music on Audio Theory, Beat Spectrum, Citrus, Counterpoint, Delta9, Fokuz, I.D. Bogotá, Kulture Klash, Peer Pressure, Promo Audio and True Box. His music was supported on radio and studio mixes by Noisia (Radio), Philth (fabric:live x Dispatch), Xtrah (Funk Cast), BassBrothers (fabric:live x Playaz) and DJ support from Bredren, Document One, DBR UK, Mauoq, Sweetpea, and DJ Rusty. Among national support, his music has been played on Radio Oxigenio (Lisbon), by producer Jabaru (Dispatch Label Mix) and top DJs like Nuno Forte and Pix.L.
