Black Lanterns (BLKLNTRNS) was the collaboration between Arizona based producer/multi-instrumentalist Oneironaut and producer/sound-designer Obsidian. Established in the shortening days of Summer 2011, Black Lanterns quickly became an unconventional departure into storytelling and space-holding soniscapes; combining progressively inventive beats and carefully crafted synth and bass spaces with a cadre of traditional instruments, Black Lanterns’ shine both in the studio and on stage. Improvisation dominates live performances which unfold and mutate moment to moment into swelling, colossal walls of sound that ebb away into the ether just as quickly as they came. Sharing gatherings with the likes of Little People, Baths, Thriftworks, Bulletproof tiger, Desert Dwellers, HUMANS, Russ Liquid, Mansions on the Moon, Whitebear, pageantry and many more; Black Lanterns pride themselves on their adaptability in the constantly evolving electronic music environment. Black Lanterns have consistently released short collections of original compositions since their inception in 2011. to date, the duo has released five short albums and fueled a growing catalog of remixes and re-imaginings. Transformation; it is the invisible hand, the sleeper that must be awakened. Black Lanterns hold themselves to the embodiment of this ideal and through this, aspire to take all they reach on a parallel journey.
