Jermaine Campbell always felt, in retrospect, that the mighty pen would become his preferred weapon of choice. It still took some time for him to emerge as a producer, MC and vocalist, even though he'd been attracted to the art of inventive storytelling for more than just a minute. The Amsterdam-born artist weighs in on the characteristics of life's complexity — all while continuously staring down his own inner demons. After several years of development, finding his own voice and steadily perfecting his craft, Jermaine's bursted onto the scene with his first single ADIOS FREESTYLE /// KILLA, a soulful and gritty bop in which he flexes his lyrical dexterity. The single is serves as a warm-up for his first project DON'T TRIP (set to release in May 2023). This tape will also credit Jermaine's cousin, longtime collaborator, primary producer and sound engineer Tymon 'Axewood Custom Music' Bijlhout, who distinctive production and engine ears helped to enrich the outline of the musical ideas. Campos' sound isn't easy to define, varying between hiphop and fuzzy soul with influences from jazz, funk and alternative music. His joints feel like an exciting but profoundly contemplative listen; a temperate introduction of an artist willing to do the work of vulnerability.
