Biography

Ruben D. Sosa Jr., professionally known as Citoonthebeat, is an award-winning music producer hailing from Jersey City, NJ. Cito's father, a music director at a local church, fostered his passion for music from a very young age. By the age of 6, he had mastered the drums, and by 12, he had become proficient in playing the piano. In 2007, Cito opened his first recording studio, where he honed his music production skills. Cito's breakthrough came in 2016 when his work was featured on Troy Ave's single "Chuck Norris," which became a hit in New York City that summer. The following year, he collaborated closely with DJ Mustard and YG on the studio album "Stay Dangerous," which has since achieved Gold certification from the RIAA. In 2019, Cito was recruited by the label APG to produce a track titled "Case Closed" for Kevin Gates' EP "Only the Generals Gon Understand." In the same year, Cito released his first independent single, "Familiar," featuring artists Tory Lanez, TJ Porter, and Suigeneris. Currently, Cito collaborates with major record labels such as Warner Records and Atlantic Records, among others. His primary focus is on nurturing the careers of emerging young talents. One of the talents he is currently working with is Jessica Peros, a 24-year-old recording artist he has been developing for the past two years. They are set to release a body of work with three songs in 2024.
