Jersey/Philly native, Concepts aka Lawrence Lockett Jr, has been a devoted hip-hop lyricist, producer, motivational speaker & urban missionary since the age of eighteen. His lyrical strokes paint meditative portraits of life’s bumpy roads & in-your-face reality. The name “Concepts” derives from an idea or thinking pattern, which coincides with a heaven’s mentality. He creates songs about everyday life through the lens of a believer. Concepts released his debut album ‘All Things’ in November of 2007 which gave him a launch to share the stage with the greats such as The Roots, Talib Kweli, Kim Burrell, Donnie McClurkin, Tye Tribbett, Trip Lee & Da' T.R.U.T.H. amongst many others. He followed up the album with releasing a compilation mixtape in 2011 called ‘Flip It Friday’ including all of his Philly artist friends. He toured the remixed music with artist friend, Leah Smith. After an extensive break from music, which saw Concepts marrying and building a foundation for his family, he reintroduced himself to the world! On Valentine’s Day 2018, he released his single “Chemistry,” on 7/13, he released his summertime single "Life of the Party" & on 10/19 he released his long awaited sophomore album, “The Exchange Student!” In 2022, he is now a first time DAD! This new experience led to new inspiration of music. On 6/17/22 he released the single "FATHERHOOD" with UK artist S.O. His EP titled "GOD REMEMBERS" will be released on 8/25/23 as it's dedicated to his daughter, Zara Storm.
