Tiranni affetti

Biography

Recently founded, the Accademia degli Erranti takes is name from the homonymous Academy formed in Brescia in 1619, which was located in what is now the “Teatro Grande”. For over two centuries the Academy hosted some of the most enlightened intellectuals of the day, above literary men such as Bartolomeo Dotti, and musicians such as Biagio Marini and Francesco Pollarolo. Choosing this name, therefore, was an homage to the ensemble’s native city and to the teachings of the old masters, as wish for cultural and human growth fostered by study, research and creative interaction. The purpose of the ensemble’s musicians - professionals who have worked at such venues as Teatro alla Scala of Milan and collaborated with early music groups such as Europa Galante, Coro e Orchestra Ghislieri, L’Aura soave, La Verdi barocca - is to rediscover repertoires and composers that are not know to the public at large but no less artistic-musical relevance than more famous ones. The ensemble is also interesting for its compositions: Davide Ferella, mandolin, Marta Fumagalli, mezzo-soprano, Barbara Altobello, violin, Claudia Poz, cello, Diego Cantalupi, arch lite and theorbo, Gabriele Levi, organ and harpsichord. They favour the performance of vocal and instrumental music for small groups composed during the 17th and 18th centuries.
