KRU is a Pop/R&B singer from San Ramon, CA. Born in Mumbai, India but raised in the Bay Area since the age of 6, Kru's musical influence stems from both her roots in the Bay Area and India. She is classically trained in opera and traditional Indian Bharathanatyam dance. Engaging with her AAPI heritage, she fuses her ethnic roots, American roots, R&B, Pop, and K-pop for her first project produced by Outlandish. Her first release “Will of Fire” explores both R&B and Pop while blending rhythmic Indian instruments and tribal dancing, inspired by Timbaland's style of referencing Arabic beats. Her next release “Crazy” from the same project is a feel-good Gen Z Pop summer record. In tow is her second project with K-pop super-producer Chase “Cha Cha” Malone who has made chart-topping hits for Jay Park, Red Velvet, and many other major K-pop artists. It explores her themes of identity, relationships, and dreams for the future playfully with a K-pop-inspired, R&B forward sound. She is currently in the studio with Grammy-nominated producer Benny Cassette, who has worked with Cardi B, Bree Runway, Megan Thee Stallion, for her upcoming full-length album.
