In a region where hip-hop is still largely unchartered territory, Chyno with a Why? based out of Beirut, Lebanon has broken new ground on all fronts. The Syrian-Filipino rapper-producer, part of the legendary Lebanese Hip Hop crew Fareeq El Atrash, has lived all over the world and makes music to deal with his consequent feelings of disenfranchisement and marginalization through a hip-hop perspective. In 2015, he made his mark in the Middle Eastern scene with his first solo album "Making Music too Feel at Home", followed by the collaborative album he produced called "El Dahleen (The Misled)" in 2017, which highlights the push and pull factor of extremist organizations for young men in this region, featuring most of Lebanon’s major hip-hop artists. In 2018, he teamed up with up and coming star The Synaptik for a joint album called "Terminal" which highlights the juxtaposition of the modern youth who are too Western for the Arab World and too Arab for the Western World. Chyno with a Why? was a founding member of S.C.U.M. Week festival: the first Street Culture and Urban Music festival of its kind in the region. Chyno with a Why? shares his music internationally to pass his message of social awareness from the Middle East to the world with great talent, and a unique flow.
