‘It took death to get here’ is how The Recipe would describe their journey in music. Originally established in Dubai in 2008, as a collective of 12 mc’s, the group quickly became one of the most recognizable faces for hiphop in the region. Fast forward to today and the group consists of 3 MC’s that represent 6 countries, and are considered pioneers to Dubai’s hiphop and music scene. With a constant stream of music released over the years, The Recipe has opened for artists such as Snoop Dogg, Skepta, Macklemore, Rick Ross, 50 Cent, De La Soul, Cypress Hill, Mobb Deep, Fat Joe, Akon, Stormzy and many more. After a 2 year hiatus, The Recipe are now back with their first official album titled ‘Funerals & Purgatory’ featuring the likes of Talib Kweli and Spark Master Tape. On their build up to the release, they released a mixtape with legendary Beastie Boy, DJ Hurricane, which later won Infusion Magazine’s album of the year. The singles to the upcoming album have received praise from the likes of Paul Rosenberg (Shady/Goliath) and other prominent figures in the industry. Known for their lyrical, energetic style and the ability to rock any crowd on any stage, The Recipe see’s 2018 as the moment they finally get the recognition they deserve globally. “We’ve killed ourselves to get here. The sacrifice, the pain, the love…all to make our dreams happen. And now? We wait in purgatory.”
