Biography

Beginning in 1998, the 1999 Let's Depart (EP) was issues as an 100 limited edition 10" records and was a collection of home recordings made on a 4 track tape machine. 2005 saw Fuzzing Away To A Whisper (Trust me I'm a Thief) used vibraphone, harp, theremin, indian drone machines to achieve a disembodied electronica. In 2007’s Of Pattern and Purpose (Trust me I'm a Thief) saw analogue synthesizers help evolve the sound to a more anchored, textured and slow-motioned pace. 2010’s Depth of Field (Skinny Wolves Records), recorded parts in Ireland/France/Sweden/Germany/California, was a 3-year labor of love, aided by grand piano, harpsichord and voice, the album further pushed his sound into dreamlike miniature symphonies. 2013's The First Wave (Bodytonic Records) and 2015's Oracle (Scintilla Recordings) were more dance music orientated and recorded mostly in the US. 2018's Wellpark Avenue was a game changer for Dublin Producer, Somadrone. Gone were the drum machines and heavy synthesizer use from Oracle and The First Wave and now saw a return to traditional song and instruments akin to Depth of Field - piano, drums, harpsichords and electronics. Dystopia, Psychedelia, LSD, Timothy Leary and TV Music of the 1970’s all contribute to the sound of Wellpark Avenue, a sound that references the likes of seminal British band Broadcast.
